SUSTAINABILITY

The Meirius Group is steadfast in its commitment to sustainable development across all facets of its operations. This unwavering dedication includes upholding and advancing the human and labor rights of all stakeholders, the responsible management of precious natural resources, and the vigilant protection of the environments in which it operates and the ecosystems it touches. These efforts are steadfastly aligned with environmental principles that are harmonious with the limits set by our planet’s ecological boundaries.

To enact this Policy, Inditex commits to upholding the following principles and to instilling them within its value chain:

1. Consideration of Social, Environmental, and Health and Safety Variables: Meirius will incorporate social, environmental, and health and safety factors into its planning and execution of activities, both internally and among its business associates and suppliers. This includes promoting awareness of sustainability.

  • Social variables encompass aspects such as workers’ participation, the empowerment of women, the establishment of living wages, and the maintenance of occupational health and safety standards.
  • Environmental variables chiefly involve addressing the impacts of climate change, effectively managing water resources, responsible waste management, and safeguarding biodiversity.
  • When it comes to health and safety of the product variables, Meirius emphasizes the utilization of environmentally responsible chemicals and production processes that are safe for both the environment and human health.

2. Adherence to Applicable Laws and Regulations: Meirius pledges to abide by all pertinent labor, environmental, and human rights laws and regulations pertinent to its business operations. Furthermore, it commits to fulfilling any additional obligations that it may voluntarily assume.

3. Environmental Stewardship: Meirius is dedicated to environmental preservation and will continuously seek improvements. This includes reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions, curtailing the consumption of natural resources, managing and mitigating the potential hazards associated with chemicals, and minimizing waste throughout its entire production process and environmental management system.

4. Identification and Mitigation of Risks: Meirius will identify social and environmental risks stemming from its business activities and take proactive measures to prevent or mitigate them. This process relies on a due diligence procedure concerning human rights and an assessment process for identifying and evaluating environmental risks, enabling the company to possess objective insights in this regard.

5. Policy Dissemination: Meirius will ensure that this Policy is effectively communicated among its employees and throughout the entire corporate group.
